Creation and Expansion of Economic System [ECON]

- As the expeditions prevailed, the Europeans needed better equipment to have a safer travel.
- They have gained the technology of the the seas from from other countries like China and Arabia.
- Like the vessels and compasses for navigation through the waters helped them get to destinations swiftly.

- Then the square and triangular sails are made to help the ship sail steadily through the ocean is knowledge from the Mediterranean, as trade is increasing there as well.
- These two types of sails helped pick up speed in sailing, the sails picked up more wind, pushing the strong boat to move forward faster.

State Building [SB]
- Started building more stronger ships due to the harsh sea environment
- Used knowledge and maps of the wind currents and ocean currents of the seas to ensure greater voyages and to get to their destinations faster.
- Volta do mar means "return through the sea”. This is a method where sailors just traveled northwest until they find the west winds winds, turned east, then they got back home
- As compasses were being used, the more efficient their travel was, and making maps and finding new routes was also easier.
- The astrolabe was an instrument used by astronomers to determine latitude by measuring the angle of the sun or the pole star above the horizon helped the sailors find where they are on the ocean.

Analysis: Over the Wind and Tide navigations
The Europeans had discovered they could use the winds to their advantage and propel them forward into their voyages. Using the "wind wheels", the portugal have access to many lands, such as; China, South Asia, Mediterranean, Africa, and if they travel long enough in the north wind wheel they will find the New Lands (present day Americas). As they are getting better access to other lands, they can spread the Christian faith through the missionaries. And they also start trading with the countries, gold and ivory from Africa, porcelain, and silk from China, and spices like pepper from India. This is booting their economy and giving making them more wealthy. Also the Portuguese will be known throughout the lands because they are active in trading, so other countries will want to come and trade with them. With the wind wheels, they find their three main goals: God, Gold and Glory complete.

The astrolabe:
- Used to find the height of any object along the horizon.
- Finds the current latitude of where the ship or object is standing
- Helps find stars, planets, and other celestial objects.
- Helps make exact coordinates to mark on maps.

The Compass
- Determines North, South, East, West
- Uses the magnetic pull of the Earth arrow always facing north
- Helps find the exact locations the astrolabe makes
Both:
- They both helped voyagers map out the new locations they have found.
- They both helped the ships get to places faster, increasing trade and all other goals they have set for themselves.
